Kapwa Yoga is a movement and mindfulness practice uses the indigenous Filipino wisdom of kapwa, or shared inner self, to inspire and remember that we are all connected. In 2020, Paul Jochico created Kapwa Yoga as a platform to build community and hold space for healing, especially in a time when life can feel increasingly isolating and disconnected. The mission of Kapwa Yoga is to create a space for the Filipino/x community to recieve healing, as folks who are often asked to give care to others (in predominantly white spaces). Through this practice, Kapwa Yoga hopes to honor our ancestors by emphasizing how we can all heal through the indigenous re-membering of kapwa. Paul is a multi-disciplinary teacher with training in dance, yoga and psychology. He is born and raised in New York (on Lenape Territory) and draws inspiration from the culture of his birth, the culture of his ancestors and his journey of decolonization along the way.
